Autumn in Søndervig
Late autumn is storm season on the west coast. The beach is almost empty – perfect for long, windy walks through the dunes and out to Lyngvig Lighthouse. The Sand Sculpture Festival has closed for the year, but the New Year's Eve dip is coming up. The North Sea is cold and rough now – only swim where it is safe.

About Søndervig
Søndervig is a seaside resort on the North Sea in West Jutland, Denmark, about 8 km west of Ringkøbing in Ringkøbing-Skjern Municipality. It marks the start of Holmsland Klit – a narrow, 40 km strip of dunes between the North Sea and Ringkøbing Fjord that runs south past Lyngvig Lighthouse to Hvide Sande.
The town grew from a small fishing hamlet into one of Jutland's first seaside resorts. The first beach hotel opened in 1889, and one of Denmark's first cycle paths was built between Ringkøbing and Søndervig. Today Søndervig is known for its wide sandy beach, its many holiday homes, the Sand Sculpture Festival, held every year since 2003, and Lalandia, which opened in Søndervig in 2022.
